Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana Urban – The Housing and Urban Affairs Ministry has recently conducted its 35th Central Sanctioning and Monitoring Committee (CSMC) meeting of Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY)–Urban on 25.06.2018. In this committee, the central government has approved a total number of 3,18,900 houses from 6 States/UTs.

Including this, the Central Government has approved over 51 Lakhs housing units against the estimated demand of 1 crore. Today, the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) has completed its 3rd year of implementation. With this, the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana has achieved the milestone of approving over 51 lakh houses.

This is an ambitious achievement of Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana in comparison to old housing scheme where 12.4 Lakh houses were approved in around 9 years of its implementation.

Maharashtra has taken a big progress in achieving its target of providing houses to slum dwellers by getting 2.48 lakh houses approved in the meeting.

Under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana Urban, the Central Government of India has approved a total amount of Rs. 2.81 lakh crore along with a Central Assistance of Rs. 77,934 crore.

Under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, a total number of 7.60 lakh housing units have been already completed. A total number of 28 lakh housing units have been grounded. The massive expansion of housing finance through CLSS is taking place.

So far, over 2 lakh beneficiaries have availed the benefits of the subsidy under the Credit-Linked Subsidy Scheme (CLSS). It is substantially higher than 18,166 beneficiaries who benefited from earlier comparable Interest Subsidy Schemes (ISHUP & RRY) – 2008 to 2013. Carpet area expansion upto 200 sq. m. under MIG component of the CLSS is being welcomed by all stakeholders.

The Central Government is moving towards completing its target of providing “Housing for All by 2022”.
