Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana Update – The Central Government in coordination with Ministry of Housing & Urban Affairs has approved the construction of more 1.5 Lakh affordable housing units under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana for providing a permanant housing to all the poor homeless people of the country. The Central Government has approved this construction with an investment of Rs.7,227 crores with central assistance of Rs.2,209 crores.

In a communique, the Ministry said in a release that with the investment of Rs. 7,227 crore, with the central assistance of Rs. 2,209 crore, the construction of 1.5 lakh houses for the benefit of the urban poor under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban) has been approved. The approval was given in the 34th meeting of the Central Sanctioning and Monitoring Committee here yesterday.

Details of 1.5 Lakh Houses Sanction
  • Andhra Pradesh has been sanctioned 56,512 houses in 22 cities and towns with an investment of Rs.3,184 Crore with central assistance of Rs.848 Crore.
  • Uttar Pradesh got 23,060 houses in 110 cities and towns with an investment of Rs.870 Crore and central assistance of Rs.346 Crore.
  • Madhya Pradesh has been sanctioned 17,920 affordable houses in 32 cities with an investment of Rs.730 Crore and central assistance of Rs.269  Crore.
  • Jharkhand has been sanctioned 14,526 houses in 26 cities and towns with an investment of Rs.1,075 Crore with central assistance of Rs.209 Crore.
  • Maharashtra has been sanctioned 13,506 houses in 15 cities and towns with an investment of Rs.643 Core with central assistance of Rs.201 Crore.
  • Chattisgarh got 7,615 houses in 61 cities and towns with an investment of Rs.234 Crore and central assistance of Rs.114 Crore.
  • Rajasthan has been sanctioned 6,576 affordable houses in 30 cities with an investment of Rs.285 Crore and central assistance of Rs.99 Crore.
  • Odisha has been sanctioned 4,849 houses in 20 cities and towns with an investment of Rs.146 Crore with central assistance of Rs.73 Crore.
  •  Punjab has been sanctioned 1,909 houses in 48 cities and towns with an investment of Rs.71 Crore with central assistance of Rs.28 Crore.
  • Assam got 1,520 houses in 6 cities and towns with an investment of Rs.39 Crore and central assistance of Rs.23 Crore.

With the above-proposed houses, cumulative houses under PMAY(U) would be 47,52,751 houses.
