Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) – 5 Crore Houses Construction by 2022
Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) – The Hon’ble Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi said that the Central Government is continuously working towards ensuring that every person of the country has a home by the year 2022 (75th Independence Year). PM informed that the aim of the Central Government is to construct three crore houses in rural areas while another two crores in urban regions.
Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY)
PM Modi said that our government has built more than 1 Crore permanent housing units in the last four years, which is more than 328% increase from the previous government. He said that previously under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, assistance of Rs. 70 to 75 thousand rupees was given which we have now increased to Rs. 1.30 lakhs.
PM Modi said that our government is working in the mission mode, previously, 18-month period was fixed for building a house. But now we have reduced this time to 12 months, from which there is a fast-growing house. The government has tried to remove the middlemen from the middle and give the direct benefit to the common man.
Details of Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY)
The PMAY was launched by the Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi in June 2015 with an aim of providing housing for all by 2022 under Centre’s Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY).
The government has targeted to construct houses for those people who are living in Kucha Ghar or Homeless. As per the scheme, the government will construct two crore houses within a time period of 7 years for Urban and Rural poor across the country.
The scheme is applicable for people belonging to LIG (Low Income Group) & EWS (Economically Weaker Sections) and now the government has also included MIG Group under PMAY after presenting the budget of 2017-18.
