Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana Panvel Maharashtra – The Panvel Municipal Body has initiated preparing plans for the construction of a total number of 2,418 affordable housing units at seven locations under the central government’s ambitious housing scheme – Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY).

It is a part of PCMC’s (Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation) eliminate slums from the city and to make its slum-free city. PCMC will also improve the infrastructure with the widening of roads at certain locations after relocating slum dwellers. The PCMC will start the construction very soon after getting approval from MHADA, the nodal agency, and the central government.

Apart from this, the state government has also fixed the construction cost of the multi-story buildings – ground plus 7 and ground plus 12. It will be constructed a total cost of Rs. 266 crore. For this, all the eligible and selected beneficiaries be provided a carpet area of 269 square feet costing Rs 11 lakh.

The Municipal Corporation will relocate the Laxmi Vasahat’s 368 hutments to Valmiki Nagar and Tapal Naka on account of the road widening work aimed at decongesting the crowded pocket. As per the PCMC officials, under the PM Awas Yojana, the state and central government will each contribute Rs 1 lakh per flat, whereas PCMC will bear the remaining construction cost.

According to the PCMC commissioner Ganesh Deshmukh, the detailed project reports (DPR) are being prepared for submission in the upcoming few days. It is expected that MHADA will give approval by October-end which will follow the central sanction in November. After that, tenders will be released in December. Accordingly, the construction work is likely to be commenced by next January. Thus, in the next two years, the flats will be ready for possession.
