Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana Free Land for Houses
The Central Government has started the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana to provide cheap houses to the people living in the rural areas. On the basis of this scheme, the State Government has started a scheme to provide two-room houses for the people living in urban areas in the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana for two lakh rupees. In this scheme, houses will be built in four and a half lakh rupees, but it will be given a subsidy of 2.5 lakhs.
The housing and urban planning department had given the target to one lakh houses for the first year in the scheme to the Development Authorities and Housing Development Council but due to non-availability of the land the scheme could not be reached.
The meeting was held recently by the Deputy Chairman of the Development Authority and Commissioner of Housing Development Council in the Department of Housing. It asked for information about the progress of the houses being built in the Prime Minister’s housing scheme in urban areas. Most of the officers informed about the absence of land for the house.
The officials also argued that in order to achieve the goal of constructing a house in this scheme, the land should be arranged on the lines of the Kanshiram Housing Scheme. Sources say that on the basis of this, it has been decided at the government level that in order to build houses in the Prime Minister’s housing scheme in the urban areas, the lands of adjoining land will be given free to the development authorities and Housing Development Council. The housing department is going to issue the mandate soon in this regard.
