PMAY Tamil Nadu – The Central Government has set a target of providing housing unit to every poor homeless people of the state. In this order, the government going to build about 70,000 houses as apartments and individual structures in the Trichy District, Tamil Nadu by 2022.

According to the District collector of Trichy K Rajamani, the stakeholders surveyed that around 70,000 houses would be needed to be built to provide everyone a housing in the five-year plan.
Collector stated that the government is working towards its targeti.e. house for all by 2022 as announced by the PM Narendra Modi.” He further stated that the upcoming building at Vannarapettai would be the second tallest government-provided apartment building in the state after the one at Chennai.
According to the Tamil Nadu slum clearance board, the city needed 24,000 apartment houses and 46,000 houses under beneficiary led construction (BLC) scheme.
According to the executive engineer of TNSCB, the government has conducted the survey for the need of the houses on the basis of demand, the suggestion of the city corporation and the request of the people for the land title. Out of the 24,000 houses, the construction of the 1,000 houses is going on. Under the BLC scheme, around 6,000 houses will be constructed by this year. Besides this, the department has planned to complete a total of 16,000 houses by this year.
