PM-Kisan 14th Installment: Latest Updates and Transfer Dates

The much-awaited 14th installment of PM-Kisan is soon to be rolled out by the Central Government. While an official date for the release of the 14th installment is yet to be announced, as per media reports, the money is expected to be transferred between May 26 and May 31. Under this installment of PM-Kisan, eligible beneficiaries will receive a direct transfer of Rs. 2,000.

On 27th February 2023 at 3:00 p.m., the Prime Minister released the 13th installment of PM-Kisan. This installment amounted to Rs. 2,000 for each beneficiary, benefitting a total of 8 crore farmers’ families. The cumulative transfer amounted to a staggering Rs. 16,800 crore, directly deposited into the bank accounts of the recipients. It is worth noting that beneficiaries who completed the PM-Kisan eKYC before the designated due date were able to receive the installment amount. We will outline the process for completing the eKYC later in this article.

PM-Kisan 12th Installment: Key Highlights

In a significant move, the government released the 12th installment of the PM-Kisan scheme on 17th October 2022 at 11:00 a.m. Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, a total of Rs. 16,000 crore was disbursed to the beneficiaries through Direct Benefit Transfer. More than 8 crore farmers were the recipients of this installment, amounting to Rs. 2,000 each, facilitated through their bank accounts linked to the PM-Kisan Yojana. It is important to note that for the beneficiary farmers to receive the 12th installment amount, they were required to complete their PM-Kisan eKYC process by 31st August 2022.

Understanding the PM-Kisan Scheme

The Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-Kisan) is a Central Sector Scheme specifically designed to provide income support to landholding farmers’ families across India. Certain categories of beneficiaries belonging to higher economic statuses are excluded from receiving benefits under the PM-Kisan scheme. These categories include:

  1. Institutional landholders.
  2. Farmer families with members who hold or have held constitutional posts, ministerial positions, district panchayat chairpersons, municipal corporation mayors, or are members of Lok Sabha, Rajya Sabha, State Legislative Assemblies, or State Legislative Councils.
  3. Retired and serving employees and officers of Central or State Government Ministries, Offices, Departments, field units, Central/State Public Sector Enterprises (PSEs), attached offices, or autonomous institutions (excluding Class IV/Multi-Tasking Staff/Group D employees).
  4. Superannuated or retired pensioners with a monthly pension of Rs.10,000 and above (excluding Class IV/Multi-Tasking Staff/Group D employees).
  5. Individuals who have paid Income Tax in the last assessment year.
  6. Professionals such as Engineers, Doctors, Chartered Accountants, Lawyers, and Architects registered with professional bodies and practicing their respective professions.

Benefits of PM-Kisan Scheme

The PM-Kisan scheme provides income support of Rs.6,000 per year to all farmer families who have cultivable land in their name, regardless of the size of their landholdings. The amount is disbursed in three equal installments throughout the year:

  1. Rs.2,000 from April to July.
  2. Rs.2,000 from August to November.
  3. Rs.2,000 from December to March.

Linking Aadhaar with PM-Kisan Scheme

PM-Kisan e-KYC for Farmers

The government has made e-KYC mandatory for farmers registered under the PM-Kisan scheme to receive their installments. Farmers must complete their e-KYC before August 31, 2022. Failure to complete the e-KYC process will result in the farmer not receiving the installment under the scheme.

Farmers can complete e-KYC through the PM-Kisan portal using Aadhaar-based OTP authentication. The process is as follows:

They can fill out the KCC card application form online and submit it through the bank’s website. The bank will then process the application and issue the KCC card to the PM-Kisan beneficiaries.

Note: The last date for e-KYC has been extended from March 31, 2022, to August 31, 2022.
