PM Awas Yojana Tamil Nadu – Center to Sanction 3.5 Lakh More Houses
PM Awas Yojana Tamil Nadu – The State Government of Tamil Nadu had urged the Central Government for increasing the sanctions of housing units under PM Awas Yojana Tamil Nadu. After that, it is expected that the Central Government can enhance the number of houses for the ambitious flagship program for the state.

Under this increment, around 3.5 lakh houses are expected to be added to the state’s kitty. This increment will help it top the country in terms of sanction. The Central Government has sanctioned about 2.49 lakh affordable housing units for Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana to Tamil Nadu till now.
The Union housing and urban affairs’ Senior officials o reviewed various housing schemes in Chennai on Friday. They have also asked the state housing and urban development department to send a demand survey for the purpose.
According to a Union housing and urban affairs’ top Official, currently, Tamil Nadu is the second-leading state in terms of allocation next only to Andhra Pradesh. At least 3.5 lakh more houses could be allocated after we receive the demand survey from the state government. He further said that Tamil Nadu is progressing with regard to the implementation of the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban) scheme.
Under this scheme, the eligible and selected beneficiaries will be provided with a subsidy of upto Rs 2.30 lakh. This subsidy will be directly credited to the loan account of the respective home buyers. According to P Suresh, a leading budget hone developer, this subsidy would help in reducing the loan amount for the buyer.
Besides this, the PM Awas Yojana has been extended to middle-income groups (MIG), with annual income up to Rs 18 lakh to realize the mission of Housing for All by 2022.
During this, the Union ministry officials also discussed the Real Estate Regulation Act for Tamil Nadu and Andaman and the Nicobar Islands.
The Ministry official stated that the registration of housing projects with the Tamil Nadu Real Estate Regulation Authority (TNRERA) are being done manually. Besides this, the online facility for the purpose would be activated in a few days.
However, an official portal for TNRERA has been disclosed a month ago. The website is yet to be equipped with uploading documents. The reality regulator in Tamil Nadu is also the authority for Andaman and Nicobar Islands with regard to RERA.
