PM Awas Yojana Jammu & Kashmir – JKRDD to Construct 7000 Houses by March-18
PM Awas Yojana Jammu & Kashmir – JKRDD, the Jammu & Kashmir Rural Development Department is going to complete the construction work of 7,000 affordable housing units under the Central Government’s ambitious scheme i.e. Pradhan Mantri Awaas Yojana (PMAY) by the end of March 2018.

According to the information provided by an official spokesman, the Rural Development Department has set a target of completing the construction of 7,000 affordable housing units by March 2018.
He further stated that the construction of affordable housing units for the homeless people of Jammu and Kashmir is going on rapidly under the central’s PM Awas Yojana Jammu & Kashmir.
Besides this, the Commissioner-Secretary Nirmal Sharma informed that under this scheme, a financial assistance of Rs 1.3 lakh per unit is provided in three installments. This financial assistance is provided to the eligible beneficiaries for the construction of their housing unit.
Apart from this assistance, an additional assistance of Rs 12,000 is provided for construction of toilets under central government’s another ambitious initiative Swachh Bharat Mission.
What is Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana?
The PMAY was launched by the Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi in June 2015 with an aim of providing housing for all by 2022 under Centre’s Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY).
The government has targeted to construct houses for those people who are living in Kucha Ghar or Homeless. As per the scheme, the government will construct two crore houses within a time period of 7 years for Urban and Rural poor across the country.
The scheme is applicable for people belonging to LIG (Low Income Group) & EWS (Economically Weaker Sections) and now the government has also included MIG Group under PMAY after presenting the budget of 2017-18.
